Well due to some technical difficulties with blogger I'm now back. SO this post is specifically meant to talk about my design objectives for my Portfolio website. When i started coming up with a concept for my portfolio I had decided I wanted to go to town with some new tricks that I have learned. Using many of the new CSS3 tricks like coded drop shadows and coded buttons and gradients. Those tricks were some of the best most amazing things I have learned. For about 3 weeks I coded my heart out and went to town with these tricks trying to come up with an outstanding website.

But not until last week I finally figured out that those tricks as cool as they are were not exactly what i wanted to convey to a potential employer. To anyone and everyone who looks at my website I want them to see not only that I am a good coder but that I have a passion for good design both Web and Graphic Arts. I decided that a simple black and white layout with very minimal graphics was the best approach. My design style is for the most part very simple but very bold and in your face I love color with a passion, but for a portfolio I feel that using color of a website to showcase your work will distract from the overall appeal of your work.

Simplicity and good judgment in color is the best way to show someone that you know your stuff. That is and has always been and always will be my philosophy in design. Use moderation but deliver a huge punch of style with what you decide to use. Don't hold back and don't pull any punch. The design industry seems tough and I'm ready for it.

So i have now decided on a much more harmonious color scheme. I really wanted to use a green and some high contrast colors so I chose the black and gray's. I also wanted to share with everyone my Adobe Kuler account I'm going to start uploading my color schemes that I use for my projects.

So this weeks homework was super intense. lol I felt like I was going to go crazy from writing all the code and from my candy packages I'm working on which i shall post soon!!! For me I find that in times like the ones I had working on my web and portfolio homework i feel Burnt out and I need a little creative recharge! one thing I do to relive stress and to get myself in a more fun mood is listen to LADY GAGA!!!! and I cant get enough of her. Than and just surf the net for parody's of hit songs and Look at the most random stuff I can find.

This is a lady gaga remix I have been listening to a lot latly i hope you enjoy.

So this is a screen shot of my web design Reconstruction. It was a really interesting but super fun challenge to re-create this web page using div's. I really felt that I had a much better under standing of how to position div's.

I also really feel so much better I have found a new website that gives an easy to use template of a Jquery easy smooth scrolling websites!!!!

Box Modle and div Website

The Box Model is a good starting point for people just learning CSS. It gives a clearly defined visual on how the CSS works and why we set margins, borders, and padding. the diagram I use is from: sitepoint.com:

You see that the margin is set to 15px.

A margin is a bit of space given so that way it wont cover another part of your website’s content. Setting your margins for the container at "0" it will cover the entire “body” of the website. You can then create divs for the content where ever you decide and then use margins to separate content. There is also a padding set around the content. What this does is move any of the information or content inside the parent container.

“The border is set as decoration and can separate two items. You can set the border on one side, a lot of times to give it a feeling of separation but you terminate the use of a graphic.” Quote from Konstandinos Goumenidi I felt like this has been one of the best explanations of the border I was able to find!

This was something that was very hard to understand but through the help of many blogs and my fellow students I think I now have a much better understanding of the box modle!

So here is my first attempt at blogging to increase traffic flow to my site and to develop my own writing skills. I really do like writing but mostly poetry and things like that so probably somewhere along the lines ill start posting my poetry!

So my goals for this blog are as follows

Post and work on my poetry
Get more traffic to my website
Get an internship
Develop and work on my spelling skills
